Baton Rouge Linebacker Getting Interest From Three

Recruiting's going pretty good. I'm just rolling along with the recruiting process like all the other high school seniors. It's fun and a real interesting thing

A member of the TI staff spoke with Baton Rouge (La) Parkview Baptist High School linebacker Brenton Burkhalter Tuesday.

TI: Brenton, how's recruiting going?
BB: Recruiting's going pretty good. I'm just rolling along with the recruiting process like all the other high school seniors. It's fun and a real interesting thing.

TI: What schools are you hearing from?
BB: I'm real interested in USM and Louisiana-Lafayette. I like those two mainly. The USM coaches visit this week. The Louisiana-Lafayette assistant coach was in town last week and came to our practice but we didn't have much tme to visit.

TI: Anyone else?
BB: I like Tulane too. I've been to a couple of their games. They showed a lot of interest at first. I still talk to them on the phone. They said they'd call me back this week but so far they haven't.

A lot of schools are looking at me as a fullback as well, that's okay. I just want to play college football and hit somebody.

TI: Have you set up any visit dates yet?
BB: No, haven't set any visit dates yet. Both the USM and Louisiana-Lafayette coaches said they wanted to talk to me about that when they visit me at home.

TI: I take it you're already qualified?
BB: I have the grades and the test scores, I'm just waiting to pick a college.

TI: OK, how about giving me your height, weight, 40 time?
BB: Height, 6'1; weight, 225; 40 time 4.7.

TI: How about your max on the bench press and squat?
BB: My bench press max is 335 pounds and I max on the squat at 500 pounds.
