Tonight let's take a brief look at prospects from the high schools in the Houston, Texas, metro area which have seen Tulane football recruiting activity in the past few years. We'll look position by position, and all prospects will be seniors during the 2005-2006 academic year

Thanks to an exhaustive research effort by Troy Sparks, from time to time we're going to give subscribers an overview of prospects at schools in area's where Tulane has been active in football recruiting. In particular we're going to look at prospects from high schools where the Green Wave has signed players in the past few years.

Tonight let's take a brief look at prospects from the high schools in the Houston, Texas, metro area which have seen Tulane football recruiting activity in the past few years. We'll look position by position, and all prospects will be seniors during the 2005-2006 academic year.

Houston, Texas/Cypress Falls High School
DE Matt Lamb 6-2 220
As a junior, Lamb was named All-District 17-5A.

DE Xavier Richard 6-2 245
Richard may also project as a defensive tackle in college. As a junior, he was named All-Greater Houston (Underclassman) and All-District 17-5A.

Friendswood, Texas/Clear Brook High School
LB Kevin Whitaker 6-3 215
As a junior, Whitaker was named 2nd Team All-Greater Houston (Underclassman).

Bay City, Texas/Bay City High School
QB DeMarcus Griggs 6-0 160
As a junior, Griggs completed 93 of 209 pass attempts (44.5%) for 1,584 yards and 13 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions. On the ground, he had 58 carries for 103 yards (1.8 yards per carry) and 1 touchdown. He also had 1 reception for 48 yards. Griggs was named 2nd Team All-Greater Houston (Class 4A), All-Greater Houston (Class 4A) Junior Offensive MVP, and All-District 24-4A.

WR Cordero Williams 5-7 150
Williams plays wide receiver and cornerback for Bay City. As a junior, he had 33 receptions for 750 yards (22.7 yards per reception) and 7 touchdowns. On the ground, he had 9 carries for 106 yards (11.8 yards per carry) and 1 touchdown. Defensively, he had 6 interceptions. Williams was named 2nd Team All-Greater Houston, All-Greater Houston (Class 4A) Offensive MVP, District 24-4A Offensive MVP, and All-District 24-4A at cornerback.

WR Dorian Williams 6-3 185 br> As a junior, Williams had 14 receptions for 259 yards (18.5 yards per reception) and 2 touchdowns. He was named 2nd Team All-District 24-4A.

Houston, Texas/Jersey Village High School
OL Steve Moore 6-4 275 5.20
As a junior, Moore was named 2nd Team All-Greater Houston (Underclassman) and 2nd Team All-District 17-5A. He has already committed to Texas.

LB Calvin Fance 6-0 190
As a junior, Fance was named 2nd Team All-Greater Houston (Underclassman) and All-District 17-5A.

DB Patrick Lavine 6-2 200 4.65
Lavine projects as a safety or possibly a linebacker in college. As a junior, he had 6 interceptions and scored 1 defensive touchdown. Offensively, he had 1 carry for 4 yards and 1 touchdown. Lavine was named 3rd Team All-Greater Houston, All-Greater Houston (Underclassman), and was a unanimous All-District 17-5A selection.

Houston, Texas/Lamar High School
LB Marshall Scott 6-0 215
Scott may project as a linebacker in college. As a junior, he was named 3rd Team All-Greater Houston (Class 5A), 2nd Team All-Greater Houston (Underclassman), and was a unanimous All-District 21-5A selection.

DB Dale Lloyd 5-10 175
Lloyd projects as a cornerback in college. As a junior, he had 2 interceptions. Lloyd was named All-District 21-5A.
