Green Wave Rebounds With Strong Tuesday Practice

"It was a real good practice today," Tulane head coach Chris Scelfo said. "We did a good job of rebounding from yesterday, the guys were really bouncing around out there; they're getting their legs back. We're still in the practice and training mode, trying to get done what we need to do to be a good football team."

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After a sluggish practice on Monday afternoon, the Tulane football team came at its Tuesday workout with a new vigor, battling hard for 20 four-minute periods on a day which wavered from hazy to overcast at the Westfeldt Practice Facility.

"It was a real good practice today," Tulane head coach Chris Scelfo said. "We did a good job of rebounding from yesterday, the guys were really bouncing around out there; they're getting their legs back. We're still in the practice and training mode, trying to get done what we need to do to be a good football team."

When asked about practice standouts, Scelfo quickly rattled off many names, including junior quarterback Lester Ricard, senior linebacker Anthony Cannon, sophomore defensive lineman Antonio Harris, sophomore running back Matt Forté, and junior defensive back Jeremy Foreman. Foreman picked off a pair of passes during the practice while Ricard continued his stretch of connecting on at least one deep bomb each day, finding true freshman Jeremy Williams for a 60+ yard touchdown connection during seven-on-seven drills.

The Wave has now completed 14 days of preseason camp, with five more workouts scheduled over the next four days. On Saturday, the football players will assist with student move-in from 9 a.m. to noon. Sunday will be the Athletic Department's annual Fan Day at the Westfeldt Facility as fans of all ages are invited to meet student-athletes from all 16 Green Wave sports teams. That event begins at 5 p.m. and will be free to all.

The Tulane football team opens the 2005 season on Sunday, Sept. 4 in a nationally-televised (ESPN2) game versus Conference USA foe Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Green Wave opens its 2005 home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 17 in the Louisiana Superdome versus Mississippi State. Season tickets for the entire 2005 home schedule are on sale now at the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office in the James W. Wilson Center, on-line at www.TulaneGreenWave.com and by calling 504-861-WAVE.
