Moving the game to El Paso would give the Miners a huge advantage...

Tulane senior safety Sean Lucas was named the C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week after returning 3 punts for 74 yards against SMU last Saturday. It was Lucas first game as the Green Wave's primary punt returner. The senior from Stephenson High School in Lithonia, Ga. set up the Green Wave's second touchdown with a 47-yard return to the SMU 24-yard line. Sophomore Matt Forte capped that drive with his second twelve-yard scoring run of the game.

Prior to the SMU game, Lucas had only returned two punts in his career.

Redshirt freshman walk on David Skehan has earned a spot on several Green Wave special teams units.

The Tulane-UTEP game, which was reportedly considered the most likely Green Wave home game to be played at Ladd Stadium in Mobile, Ala., appears to be headed to El Paso. Financial realities are said to be forcing Rick Dickson's hand in this. The word is that the Green Wave athletic budget is an empty void at this point.

Moving the game to El Paso would give the Miner's a huge advantage, but financially the return would probably be considerable better than playing in Tiger Stadium, Lafayette, Ruston, Houston, Dallas, or Mobile.

Obviously, the effect that the wear and tear of travel has on the team is also a factor in determining where to play the game.

The decision on this could come as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday.

True freshman linebacker Jordan Ellis saw his first action of the season and his career late in the SMU game.

With several Tulane players wearing duplicate numbers and no names on the jersey backs, it's hard to tell whether the #34 playing on specia lteams is walk on linebacker Evan Lee or walk on running back Kirk Bush. Both are true freshmen.

Lee had committed to Temple last winter but never signed with the Owls.

Bereft of their normal home fields at the Louisiana Superdome and at the Tad Gomrley homecoming site, the Green Wave plays Southeastern Louisiana University, a 1-AA program at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. La. Saturday.

Just put the ball down and play!
