UCF Defeats Green Wave 34-24

The Green Wave defense allowed 286 yards rushing and 488 yards total offense, but held the Knights to one second half touchdown, a 12-yard halfback pass from the Knights outstanding freshman running back Kevin Smith to Darcy Johnson

Tulane quarterback Lester Ricard threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns but also threw four interceptions in a 34-24 loss to the Central Florida Golden Knights Friday night in Orlando. Tulane's record falls to 2-4 overall, 1-3 in C-USA. UCF's record is 4-3, 3-1 Conference USA.

Ricard completed 27-of-47 passes.

The Green Wave turned the ball over 5 times altogether. Ricard's final two interceptions came on the Green Wave's final two possessions of the game.

The Green Wave briefly held a 14-13 lead after Ricard connected with Preston Brown on a 44-yard pass play with 10:21 left in the first half. The Tulane defense then forced a punt to end the Knight possession after the kickoff , but Tulane receiver Bubba Terranova lost the handle after catching a pass from Ricard at the UCF 38. The Knights recovered and scored two plays later to give them a 20-14 lead. Ricard threw an interception at the UCF goal line on Tulane's next possession and the Knights offense added a touchdown with 7 seconds remaining in the first half to make the lead 27-14 at the half.

Ricard's first interception came at the Tulane 20 on the second play after the opening kickoff and led to a 32-yard field goal by the Knights Joe Brown. Tulane punted on their next possession and the Knights converetd a touchdown to give them a 10-0 lead, which was the final margin of victory.

Smith gained 113 yards on 17 carries for the Golden Knights. Jason Peters added 110 yards on 9 carries.

Quarterback Steven Moffett was 17-of-29 passing for 190 yards and a touchdown.

Anthony Cannon led the Green Wave defense with 12 tackles.

Sophomore running back Matt Forte netted 58 yards on 10 carries to lead the Tulane rushing attack. Forte added 6 pass receptions for 41 yards.

Senior Bubba Terranova led all Green Wave receivers with 6 catches for 109 yards. Preston Brown gained 97 yards on 3 catches, and Kenny Guidroz added 3 catches for 30 yards.
