Tulane Puts Friday's Workout In The Books

New Orleans, La. - The Green Wave football team concluded their first preseason practice with a two-hour shorts-and-helmets workout late Friday afternoon. The beginning of the session was delayed until 5:15 p.m.

Friday's workout was the first of the four workouts in limited gear mandated under NCAA rules.

The team will return to the practice field in shorts for an 8 a.m. session Saturday. Practice will contine with 8 a.m. sessions in shorts and shoulder pads Sunday and Monday. The team will don full gear Tuesday. The Tuesday workout is at 8 a.m. Two-a-days will begin Wednesday with practice sessions scheduled at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The team will hold its first big scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Among the freshmen who joined the team are defensive back Daniel Wilson, defensive back Curtis McGinty, linebacker Bryson Downham, and tight end/fullback Leo Webb.

Shane Hannabury, a former member of the football squad, who was not listed on either the spring or pre-season rosters has apparently rejoined the team. Hannabury is currently listed as a linebacker.

Fans are reminded that the Ray Hester Club's Annual 'Let's Talk Tulane Football' is set for Sunday, Aug. 27 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Boomer's Nightclub at Boomtown Casino in Harvey. Fans will have the chance to meet the coaching staff and other Tulane fans for an afternoon of Tulane football.
