Green Wave Works Twice Wednesday

The Tulane Green Wave practiced twice Wednesday, wearing full gear in the evening session. Wednesday was the team's first two-a-day session of pre-season camp, and the afternoon practice was the second time the Wave had donned full pads since camp had begun last week.

Two starters, tight end Jerome Landry and defensive end Sean Carney, were on the field for the afternoon workout but did not wear pads.

Three freshmen - defensive end Tony Bryant, linebacker Jeremy McKinney, and linebacker Troy Wilson - did not dress out.

One of the players who appear to be making a bid for playing time is big Percy Huff, a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman. Huff has been showing great improvement in drills, but it remains to be seen whether that improvement can be carried onto the field in full speed scrimmage conditions.

Two true freshman, running back Andre Anderson and linebacker Cody Sparks, continue to impress.

Sophomore Evan Lee is also pressing for playing time at linebacker.

The Greenies will take the field again Thursday, with a single practice session scheduled at 4 p.m. Practice will continue with a single session Friday at 4 p.m. A scrimmage is scheduled on Saturday at 4 p.m. but the team is also scheduled to practice at 7:40 a.m. Saturday.
