Tulane Bows To Butler In Opener, 77-37

Tulane trailed 6-1 at the 15:53 mark of the first half, when Matt Wheaton hit what would prove to be the Green Wave's only trey of the game to cut the lead to 6-4. It was never that close again as Butler went on a 7-0 run to stretch their lead to 13-4 before David Gomez scored for the Wave with 13:42 remaining. The Butler Bulldogs demolished the Tulane Green Wave, 77-37, in Fogelman Arena Friday evening before a crowd estimated at 2,000. It was the season opener for both teams. Tulane, 0-1, shot 33.3% from the floor for the game but only 28% in the second half. Tulane was a miserable 1-for-10 from beyond the three-point arc for the game.
