Green Wave Bests ECU, 88-72

It was a see-saw game in the early going with the score tied at 12 with 14:30 remaining in the half, but Tulane outscored the Pirates 40-24 from that point. ECU cut the lead to 2 at 29-27 with 7:08 remaining, but the Wave was hot and went on a 23-9 run to take a 52-36 lead into the locker room

The Tulane Green Wave closed out the home portion of the regular season with an 88-72 victory over the East Carolina Pirates in Fogleman Arena Wednesday evening. It was senior night at Fogleman as three Greenies - guards Chris Moore, Andrew Garcia, and center Korey Castine - wore their home white for the last time on the Fogleman hardwood before a crowd of 1,637.

Moore, Garcia and Castine all got the starting nod from head coach Dave Dickerson.

For their part, Moore scored 22 points equalling his career high, Garcia added 8, and Castine had 6 points. Moore was 6-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from behind the 3-point line, and went 4-of-4 from the free throw line to account for his 22 points.

David Gomez scored 20 points and Robinson Louisme added 11 as the Green Wave continued their dominance in the paint by outscoring the Pirates 40-18 inside. Tulane also out rebounded ECU 38-31.

East Carolina was led by guard Courtney Captain, who continued his hot streak with 17 points. Darrell Jenkins, Captain's running partner at guard, added 15 points; Brandon Evans scored 11 points and Cory Farmer had 10 points.

Tulane's run down the stretch of the first half was led by Chris Moore's 8 points. Moore scored 12 points to lead the Green Wave in the half, with David Gomez scoring 10 points.

In the second half ECU cut the Greenie lead to 10 at the 15:29 mark, and got the lead back down to 10 with 14:47 remaining in the game but could never get any closer and the Wave gradually pulled away with the lead ballooning to as much as 20 points.

Tulane will close out the regular season with a Saturday afternoon visit to UAB. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. Central Time.

The Conference USA post-season tournament is scheduled to begin next Wednesday in Memphis, Tenn.
