Tulane head coach Bob Toledo landed the Green Wave's eighth verbal commitment of the 2008 recruiting campaign when Kasey Stelly, the 6-foot, 235-pound fullback from St

. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, La. Tulane Insiders Co-publisher Wayne Picou spoke with Cougar's head coach Jim Hightower Wednesday and the veteran coach confirmed that his fullback had committed to the Green Wave.

"We've got practice and we talked and it's true," Hightower began. "He committed to Tulane. The other schools? Well, Louisiana-Lafayette was after him. They really wanted him."

Stelly had previously told BJ Thompson, Publisher of Scout.com's Cajun Red Zone Site that Tulane had told him that he was the highest rated fullback on their prospect board.

Louisiana-Lafayette apparently thoguht that Stelly could play either tight end or defensive end.

Stelly had an offer from McNeese State in addition to Tulane and Louisiana-Lafayette.

Stelly also had attracted interest from LSU, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.
