Tulane ran into a buzzsaw Thursday evening at the University of Buffalo's Alumni Arena and
bowed to the Bulls 65-51, before a crowd announced at 1,887.
The Bulls, now 4-3, shot nearly 60% from the floor in the first half and took a 37-20 lead into halftime. Meanwhile the Green Wave, now 3-2, shot less than 30% in the first period and
improved to 39% in the second period.
Guard Kevin Sims and forward David Gomez combined to score 15 and 13 points respectively
to lead Tulane.
Sophomore guard Sean Smiley led Buffalo with 26 points, hitting 8-of-10 shots from the floor,
all five of his three-point attempts - four of them in the first half, and going 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
The Green Wave cut the Bulls lead to six with eight minutes to go in the second half, but were
unable to get closer as Smiley and the Buffs slammed the door.
The Green Wave will return to action Saturday Dec. 1, when they visit the Syracuse Orangemen.
Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. central time.
