Green Wave Bows To Syracuse, 73-60

In the second half the Orange turned it around to shoot 50% from the floor en route to a 13-point margin of victory while the Green Wave's shooting continued to languish at 35%

The Syracuse Orange pounded the boards to take a 73-60 win over the Tulane Green Wave before a crowd of 21,173 at the Carrier Dome Saturday evening. It was the Green Wave's third straight loss.

Tulane, now 3-3, was led by Daniel Puckett with 16 points. Kevin Sims scored 11 and 11 points, and Robinson Louisme added 10 points.

The Orangemen, now 5-2, were led by Jonny Flynn with 17 points and Eric Devendorf with 16 points.

Two other Syracuse players, Paul Harris and Arinze Onuaku, recorded double-doubles with Harris scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, and Onuaku scored 14 points, and had 16 boards.

Tulane shot only 33% from the floor in the first half but trailed by only seven, 28-21, because Syracuse shot only 34 %.

The Wave struggled on the boards as well, losing the rebound battle to the taller Orangemen, 47-33.

The Green Wave hit all 19 of their free throw attempts.

Despite the shooting and rebounding problems, the Greenies cut the Syracuse lead to single digits in both halves.

Tulane will return to action on Wednesday, December 5 against Huston-Tillotson at Fogelman Arena. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
