The Green Wave opened the series with a 6-0 victory Friday night behind All-American candidate Shooter Hunt. Hunt started the season strong pitching 6 scoreless innings while striking out eight. Dyer led Tulane offensively going 3-for-4 with his first homerun of the series.
Saturday, Tulane had to come from behind to pull out the 4-3 victory. Center fielder Aja Barto was the star of the day knocking in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Barto finished the day 2-for-3 with one walk, one run, one rbi, and 3 stolen bases. Reliever Preston Claiborne got the win. Starting pitcher Aaron Loup pitched six innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while recording 4 strikeouts.
Tulane closed the series Sunday, pounding UIC 9-2. Freshman Robby Broach made an impressive debut giving up 2 runs in 5 innings, capturing his first win of his collegiate career. Right fielder Drew Allain, left fielder Anthony Scelfo, first baseman Sam Honeck, and center fielder Aja Barto all finished 2-for-4 on the day.
In addition to batting .455, Dyer finished the series with 4 runs and 3 rbi. Aja Barto also batted .455 in the series with 2 doubles and a homerun. He scored 4 runs and knocked in 3 rbi. Anthony Scelfo and third baseman Rob Segedin each had 4 rbi.
