Freshman lefthander Matt Pepitone pitched the Green Wave out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 12th inning against SLU Tuesday night for the first win of his collegiate career. First baseman Sam Honeck sealed the 4-3 victory, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the inning.
Wednesday night Tulane jumped all over the Ragin' Cajuns 10-1. Junior right-handed pitcher Jonathan Garrett was nearly perfect, pitching 6 innings of one-hit baseball, while recording 5 strikeouts. Leftfielder Anthony Scelfo provided the offensive spark for the Green Wave going 3-4 with 2 triples and one walk. Scelfo scored 3 runs and drove in two.
Tulane returns to action at 12 P.M. today against Pepperdine in the 2008 Dairy Queen Invitational at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Green Wave will then face Minnesota Saturday at 6:30 P.M. Tulane closes out tournament play Sunday at 11 A.M. against TCU.
