Tulane Crushes Jags

Posted Mar 5, 2008

Tulane (7-3) capitalized on five Southern errors to take a 14-6 victory Wednesday night at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. First baseman Sam Honeck broke a scoreless tie with a 3-run blast in the second inning to give the Green Wave a lead they would never relinquish.

Sophomore lefty Matt Petiton pitched six strong innings to earn the win for the Green Wave. Petiton recorded 6 strikeouts while giving up only 2 hits and one run.

Reserve catcher was impressive at the plate going 2-for-2, scoring 2 runs and knocking in another. Center fielder Aja Barto was 2-for-3 with a walk and 3 runs scored. Honeck finished the night 1-for-3 with a walk, his second inning home run, 2 runs scored, and 4 rbi.

Tulane returns to action Friday at 6:00 P.M. for a 3 game series against UC-Irvine at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
