Tulane Drops Series to Anteaters

Posted Mar 9, 2008

Friday night Tulane (8-5) opened the weekend series with #13 UC-Irvine (10-1) in impressive fashion with a 2-0 victory. The loss was the first of the season for the Anteaters. The rest of the series would not go as well for Coach Rick Jones and his troops.

The star of the night Friday for the Green Wave was sophomore starting pitcher Shooter Hunt. Hunt was dominant pitching 7.0 innings of one-hit baseball, recording 11 strikeouts.

Tulane dropped the second game of the series 7-3 Saturday as the Green Wave stranded 10 baserunners, seven in scoring position. Tulane also committed 3 errors on the afternoon. Leftfielder/second baseman Anthony Scelfo led the Green Wave attack going 1-for-1 with a home run, 3 walks, one run, and 2 rbi.

Tulane dropped Sunday's contest 5-1 as the Anteaters got on the board early with a 2-run homerun from Francis Larson in the first inning. UC-Irvine added 2 more in the fifth to take an insurmountable 4-0 lead.

Tulane returns to action Tuesday, March 11, against Northwestern State at 6 p.m. at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
