Tulane built a 5-1 lead after five innings behind a solid performance from Jonathan Garrett, but could not hold on to the lead despite outhitting the Herd 14-8. Designated hitter Andrew Rodgers, third baseman Rob Segedin, leftfielder Warren McFadden, and first baseman Sam Honeck all had multi-hit performances for the Green Wave.
Friday, Tulane took a 6-5 victory after pinch hitter Scott Powell hit a sacrifice fly to right field to drive in the winning run. Mason Griffin (2-1) came on in relief of Shooter Hunt and pitched to final 2.2 innings to get the win. Rightfielder Drew Allain and short stop Seth Henry each had a pair of hits for the Green Wave.
Saturday, Marshall pitcher Steve Blevins turned in a 151-pitch performance and recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts to defeat the Green Wave 7-4. The Thundering Herd also outhit Tulane 14-6. Starting pitched Aaron Loup was the losing pitcher, dropping his record to 2-2 on the season.
Tulane returns to action Tuesday, April 8th, at 6 p.m. against Nicholls State at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
