Sixth-seeded Marshall (28-29-1) eliminated Tulane (37-20-1) 8-7 Saturday in the 2008 Entergy Conference USA Championship Tournament. The Green Wave will now have to wait for the NCAA Selection Show, Monday at 11:30 to reveal their fate. Conventional wisdom is that 37 wins will give Tulane a regional bid.

Saturday's contest featured four lead changes in the final five innings. The decisive play was when Marshall's leftfielder Jeff Rowley scored on a wild pitch with 2-out in the bottom of the ninth.

Freshman Rob Segedin (1-2) was the losing pitcher. Starter Jonathan Garrett surrendered 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits in 4.1 innings of work. Garrett also recorded 6 strikeouts.

Offensively, third baseman Anthony Scelfo tied a career-high with 5 rbi. Scelfo was 2-for-5 at the plate including 3-run homerun that gave Tulane a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning. Second baseman Seth Henry was 2-for-4 with a walk, a homerun, one run, and 2 rbi.
