| Biography: |
Somewhat undersized, Cannon's an explosive linebacker constantly around the action.
'AC' is a potential All-American candidate whose strength is his quickness and instincts. Some observers feel he could project as a strong safety in professional football. Has played in 24 games during his career and made 23 starts.
Anthony's emergence as a true freshman in the 2002 season, when he tied for the national lead among all Division I-A true freshmen in total tackles, did much to solidify the linebacker unit despite early season injuries and mid-season losses.
For his 2002 efforts Anthony earned second team Freshman All-America honors from The Sporting News, which also named him the Conference USA Defensive Freshman of the Year. Did not start in the opener against TCU last season because he was hampered by a knee injury suffered in pre-season practice.
A tackling machine, 'AC' has produced 216 career tackles, averaging 9 tackles per game.
